Annapurna Base Camp Trek

ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP (4200M)

Annapurna Base Camp also is known as Annapurna Sanctuary is among few treks that offer diverse landscapes, culture and take you so close to the majestic Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), Machapuchhre (6997m), and Hiunchuli (6441m) in a short period of time. Undoubtedly the Annapurna Base Camp is one of the most famous treks in the Annapurna Region of Nepal.

The well-established classic trail goes through an incredibly spectacular view of Annapurna South (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and a sacred mountain Machapuchhre (6997m) along with lush rhododendron forests, different typical villages, rice fields, glaciers, and high altitude landscapes most of the times.

The settlement of Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) has two lodges from where we can admire an extra-ordinary view of snowy peaks with mesmerizing sunrise and sunset. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek has different trekking options depending on our time and itinerary.

Here we are presenting you 11 days’ program from Kathmandu to Kathmandu. Starting from Hile (3 ½ hour drive from Pokhara) than walking north up to Ghorepani where the famous Poon Hill (3210m) tower offers an incredible panoramic view of snow-capped mountains.

From Ghorepani, we walk toward the east to Chomrong Village, the only way of entering and exiting point of Annapurna Base Camp. This trek can be done with children as well. On our way back, we can return via Jhinu Danda and give our tired muscles a well-deserved rest in the delightful natural hot springs which are just 20mins down from Jhinu Danda. Then we continue to Ghandruk village, one of the most beautiful villages of South Asia on the lap of Annapurna South (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and Machapuchhre (6997m). We visit beautiful typical Gurung houses and museums.

FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION

The lodges in this trek are well equipped with extensive menus ranging from the typical Nepali food DalBhat (lentils soup, vegetables, and rice) to continental pizza, toast, sandwich, spaghetti, macaroni to Chinese fried noodles, momo, soups. Hot shower and solar panel charging system are readily available but depend on the weather.

BEST SEASON

Mid-February to Mid-May, the national flower rhododendron forests are in full bloom, and Mid-September to Mid-December is considered as the best season to trek in this area as the weather is almost always clear. This trek can be done in the winter season but between Deurali to Machapuchhre Base Camp, there is a high risk of avalanches so we don’t suggest trek in this season.
